Alter-Ego migration parameters are stored in the settings database. The contents of the tree -- all computers and groups -- and the settings database can be saved to a single .AES (Alter-Ego settings) file. The exact format of the save file may change as new versions of Alter-Ego are released. Settings files are given version numbers to indicate which options are included.
When a settings file is loaded, if the file is an older version than the current release, the default options for the current version are automatically set. A message is displayed indicating that this conversion has taken place. It is strongly advised that all settings are reviewed based on the following list before beginning any migration.
Version 1 - Alter-Ego 0.1.0 to 0.1.4
- Original settings
Version 2 - Alter-Ego 0.2.0
- Added Overwrite existing destination profiles option. The default settting for this
option is Not Set, meaning existing destination profiles will not be overwritten.
A complete description of all settings can be found here.
