The Configuration dialog allows you to view and change general program settings.
Log Path: The folder in which the Console log files will be created. The Handler log file is named handler.log. Each Transferor creates its own log which is named transferor#.log where # is the current ID of the Transferor. By default, logs are saved to the Log folder in the Alter-Ego program path. Click the ellipsis button to browse to a folder.
Log Collect Path: The folder to which all Client log files are collected. By default, Client logs are collected to the ClientLogs folder in the Alter-Ego program path. Click the ellipsis button to browse to a folder.
Listener IP: A local IP address on the Console which receives all client communications. The first IP address on the system will be used by default, so this only needs to be changed if the Console has more than one IP address and a non-default interface is being used.
Listener Port: TCP port through which the Console receives all Client communication. Port 7919 is used by default.
Console IP: The IP address supplied to Clients for network communications with the Console. On a local area network this will usually be the same as the Listener IP. If the Console and Clients are separated by a firewall or router which is redirecting traffic using port-forwarding or NAT, Console IP should be set to the IP address which the Clients will use to reach the Console (e.g. the public address of the firewall). - Use Listener IP - is set by default. In these cases it is recommended that you complete a network test to verify connectivity.
Destination Share: A valid Windows share on the Client to which the Alter-Ego service executables will be copied. ADMIN$ is used by default.
Destination Path: The path under the Destination Share to which the Alter-Ego service files will be copied. This value is blank by default, meaning the files are placed directly in the Destination Share.
NOTE: The Advanced Settings should not be changed unless instructed by Winterfrost support. Incorrect settings could significantly hinder performance of the program or have other unexpected results.
Check Period: The number of seconds the Console will wait between idle Transferor checks. The Check Period is 15 seconds by default.
Reporting Period: The number of seconds between expected updates from each Client. If the Reporting Period elapses between updates, the Handler will contact the Client for a status check to ensure the current process is still progressing. The Reporting Period is 120 seconds by default.
Keep Alive Increment: The number of seconds added to the Reporting Period when the Client reports an impending action which may prevent successful status checks for more than the Reporting Period (e.g. before the Client reboots). The Keep Alive Increment is 300 seconds by default.
Logging Level: The detail level of messages to be recorded in the Handler and Transferor logs, from 1 (normal) to 9 (verbose debug). The Logging Level is 1 by default.
Max. Transferors: The maximum number of Transferors which will run concurrently. By default, Maximum Transferors is calculated as 1/10 the licensed seat count (rounding down) with a minimum of 4. Increasing the number of Transferors will increase the number of simultaneous migrations at the cost of additional resources (CPU, memory, network, etc.) on the Console.
Show Welcome Screen at Startup: Check this box to display the welcome screen which shows some common tasks to help you get started with Alter-Ego.
